Hess' Law

DWU #3  A student drops a piece of hot metal into cold water.  The following data re measured:  Mass of water = 100.g, mass of metal 46.2 g, initial temperature of the water, 24.3 , initial temp of the metal 99.9, final temperature of water and metal, 26.2.  What is the specific heat of the metal?

I checked homework and went over both the homework and the "Class Work" from the last period.  I also collected the lab "What is your Metal?"  I gave HW Quiz #1, which was based on Heat of Combustion.  I also introduced Hess' Law and we did the Hess' Law lab.

HW: Read 10.6-10.7; p. 319 #30, p. 321 #61
